We had a completely different blog post prepped and almost ready to go, and then Russia invaded Ukraine. Typically, we refrain from commenting on political situations. (That is business 101.) We are still choosing not to comment regarding our personal feelings. We do, however, want to express our support for the people of Ukraine. So we very quickly scrapped the plans we had for our next window display, and have been working on one that features Sunflowers ( Ukraine’s favorite flower) as well as their national colors. Katie and I re-worked one of the blocks from a previous Progressive Quilt Club quilt and came up with this sunflower banner/wall-hanging Thing-A-Ma-Jig. Please note that the borders have not been sewn on yet, and because Katie was working from a black and white picture, she arranged the top of the stem a little different. For our sample, we used a variety of batiks from Batik Textiles, as well as a digital print from Starflower Christmas. We are providing the pattern for you for free. Please use this as you wish to express your support and prayers for Ukraine as well. Нехай Бог оберігав український народ. May God protect the Ukrainian People.
Below, is the block designed to compliment the fabric. Note: While in the process of updating our website we lost many of our past blog posts. This is a post that was lost. Since its a lot of work to re-post approximately 800 million of our previous blogs- they are being uploaded in PDF form, and post dated- allowing you to enjoy them without us feeling the urge to take a baseball bat to our computer. Click on the post, and the PDF should automatically be visible. Future post will be made in a better format. |
